Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil reboot has pulled in about $245.4 million worldwide and $124.9 million domestically, making it the first live-action film in the franchise to clear $100 million in the U.S. and Canada.
It opened to $60.2 million domestic and $108.3 million globally over September 18-20, both franchise records and the biggest launch of Cregger’s career, beating the roughly $70 million worldwide start of last year’s Weapons. The film carries a reported $75 million production budget and cleared it in a single weekend.

It has already more than doubled Barbarian’s $46.2 million lifetime worldwide gross. Weapons still leads on lifetime total at $270.1 million, so this reboot sits about $25 million short of passing it, with China open as of today and Japan arriving October 9.
Reviews helped: 96% on Rotten Tomatoes and a B+ CinemaScore, the best audience grade the franchise has ever earned. Just that single weekend’s haul beat what the 2002 original ($103 million) and 2021’s Welcome to Raccoon City ($41.9 million) each pulled in across their full worldwide runs.
On worldwide gross it now ranks in the franchise’s top four, still trailing Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, which made roughly $312 million with about $159.5 million of that from China alone.
