While doing press for Addams Family Values, a reporter asked Christina Ricci if she’d gotten her period yet. She was 13. Her reply: “No, I’m going through menopause.”
Ricci recounted the exchange in 2001, when she was 21, after being asked about the stupidest interview question she’d ever received. She’d been promoting the 1993 sequel to The Addams Family, in which she played Wednesday Addams.

“But still that sticks with me,” Ricci said. “Fortunately, I come from a very sarcastic family, so that’s usually how I deal with it.”
She’s also described adults discussing her developing body on sets when she was around 12 to 13, including wardrobe conversations about making her look “less womanly.” Ricci attributed her discomfort partly to those experiences, saying they also contributed to her body-image issues and a brief eating disorder.
She’s said she sometimes gave sarcastic or deliberately strange interview answers as a teenager when questions were inappropriate or asked her to weigh in on subjects she felt too young to discuss.
