Netflix Does Hitchcock

Hey Creep Crew,

Is anyone else already feeling sad that Halloween is almost over for this year? Are people trick or treating? Are you guys keeping your neighborhood creepy?

At Creepy Catalog we recognize that Halloween is a 365 lifestyle and we celebrate all things spooky year round, but it’s still sad to see the season come to an end. Nothing to do but make the most of it while we can and what we’re losing in community activities this year, we gain in guilt-free horror movie binging while we’re all at home social distancing. Here are our picks for the best horror streaming all around the internet this weekend:

Best of Netflix:

Rebecca. This is a wonderful (and spooky!) remake of the Alfred Hitchcock movie from 1940 based on a 1938 gothic Daphne du Maurier novel. It’s perfect for a date night!

Also, ICYMI the new volume of Unsolved Mysteries dropped! Here’s a reference guide for the mysteries they are delving into this time.

Best of Hulu:

It. One of Stephen King’s (or anyone, for that matter) best stories of all time. The Losers Club is new on Hulu and such a great movie to watch this time of year. Follow it up with It: Chapter 2 at your leisure. Who do you think makes a better Pennywise, Tim Curry or Bill Skarsgård?

Also, maybe check out the og The Craft before you see the remake? It’s on Hulu now.

I didn’t really love The Strangers: Prey at Night despite being a big fan of The Strangers, but it’s also new on Hulu. It’s worth a watch for horror fans who liked the original.

Best of Prime:

The Maze. Fine holiday fun for any horror fan. I dare you to not want to watch this movie after reading this two sentence synopsis: “Five friends break into a closed corn maze in the middle of the night and decide to play a harmless game of tag. Little do they know that a psychopathic killer has decided to play along.”

This week’s Horror Happenings:

— We recapped easter eggs even die-hard fans missed in ‘Scream’

— We also talked about the best horror movie intros.

— I’m sorry to suggest anyone read Jezebel but they really do have the creepiest reader stories every year for Halloween and this year’s batch will be in the comments here. I suggest you read them in bed in the dark. 😈

This TikTok is fricken nuts.

— Buzzfeed has a horror movie cliche personality test. I got “People tripping over thin air as the killer is mere feet behind them”.

Why ‘American Murder: Family Next Door’ Is The Eeriest True Crime Documentary We’ve Seen In Years

— I’m really into this spooky singer if you’re looking for some Halloween mood music.

Last call for the easiest halloween costume you’ll ever purchase. We’ve got skeleton kitten masks in our shop. Slip one on and be the neighbor creepy kids in your town want to grow up to become.
