Adam Brody Went on ‘Hot Ones’ and Talked About ‘Yoga Hosers’, ‘Jennifer’s Body’ and ‘Scream 4’

This week Adam Brody went on the iconic YouTube show Hot Ones to promote the second season of Nobody Wants This on Netflix. While eating spicy wings, host Sean Evans steered the conversation to a few of the actor’s horror roles. First, the two discussed an injury Brody received doing too much headbanging as his drummer character in Yoga Hosers.

Next, Brody talked about his role as a fame-hungry drummer in Jennifer’s Body. He played the lead singer of the fictional band Low Shoulder — though unfortunately that isn’t really him singing on the movie’s catchy single, “Through the Trees“. The band ends up sacrificing the title character, played by Megan Fox, to Satan in exchange for success in the music industry and Jennifer becomes a succubus who feeds on high school boys.

On Hot Ones, Sean and Adam talked about how it’s super satisfying that Jennifer’s Body is still so popular after it was marketed “180 degrees wrong.” Brody said, “I was a big fan then, and I’m happy other people are now.”

Marketing around Jennifer’s Body focused on attracting young men to theaters based on the premise of “Megan Fox is very hot”. Although Megan Fox is indeed very hot, the strategy failed and the film was initially poorly received. However, female audiences loved Jennifer’s Body and its reputation improved over the years. Today it is considered a feminist cult classic.

Brody was also asked about his portrayal of a small town cop in Scream 4 (2011), a role for which he died on screen. The actor feels the scene was not “his finest work” because he looks like he is laughing during his death. However, that particular scene is actually controversial for a different on-screen death, which draws attention away from Brody’s supposedly less than stellar performance. Right after Brody’s character dies, Anthony Anderson made a wild choice about how to play his own character’s death and Wes Craven went with it.

Brody has also appeared in the horror movies Isabelle (2018) and Ready or Not (2019). Additionally, one of his very first roles was “Male teen #1” in The Ring (2002). Unfortunately, he wasn’t asked about these movies on Hot Ones.
