Anna Faris Thought She Was “Being Put Out To Pasture,” but Recent Events Have Restored Her Confidence in Herself

By the time Anna Faris left the TV series Mom after seven seasons, she felt like her career was heading toward its end. “I was, in hindsight, I think pretty depressed,” Faris said on the Dear Chelsea podcast. She felt like she was being “put out to pasture” in a “slow aging actress retirement.”

She hit a low point when her house burned down in the 2025 Palisades fires. But a call from Marlon Wayans and a starring role in the return of Scary Movie finally gave her the perspective she needed.

“It was a very wonderful and heady year for me,” said Faris. “I feel more confident in what I have to offer, which might not be, I don’t know, for a wide audience. But I feel more solid in my own ability. I wish I had realized that earlier.”
