In Mike Flanagan’s new ‘Carrie’ series, Carrie’s mother Margaret (Samantha Sloyan) is required to start working. She starts off as a cashier at S-Mart, frustrated by the customers she looks down on, and by the fact that she’s being trained by someone younger than her.
In Army of Darkness, we learn that Ashley J. Williams (Bruce Campbell) works in the housewares department of S-Mart.
The best part is, both versions of S-Mart have the same slogan, “Shop smart, shop S-Mart.” Ash says the slogan when he’s talking about his boomstick to the primitive screwheads of the past, and we can see the slogan on Margaret’s name tag and vest, and it’s painted on the store’s office wall.
I choose to believe that both the Evil Dead stories and Mike Flanagan’s Carrie are set in the same world where S-Mart is a retail chain that exists in multiple states across the U.S.
