Inde Navarrette’s evidence for ghosts comes from a photo shoot at an old Victorian building: she says several Polaroids captured orbs, and the owner said she could hear music and dancing in the ballroom.

The 25-year-old Obsession actress considers that proof of the paranormal. “So, yes, I believe in ghosts. And I love them. It’s fun to argue with them,” she said. She added that “sometimes the ghosts win,” though she says she occasionally gets the upper hand.

Her superstitions also shape how she and her team prepare for events. Navarrette says her hair and makeup artist, publicist and stylist are all Latino, and they burn sage beforehand. “We call it Mexican intuition, Mexican energy,” she said.

They also make sure everyone passes a sidewalk pole on the same side. “If we split the pole, we’ll be jinxed,” she explained.

Navarrette, who plays Nikki in Curry Barker’s horror film Obsession and previously appeared in 13 Reasons Why, says her paranormal experiences extend to her sleep. She describes having intense dreams that later seem to happen in real life, down to the conversation, location and clothing.

“A secret superpower of mine, which does freak me out sometimes, is that I have very intense dreams that come true,” she said. “If it was the 1600s, I would be burned at the stake.”
