The Next Series From the Creator of ‘Haunting of Hill House’ Is Out
It takes place on a small island where a new preacher ignites some kind of spooky religious fervor.
Hey Creepy Catalogers,
Today Midnight Mass drops on Netflix. This is a new 7-episode horror series from Mike Flanagan, the writer/director of previous Netflix series The Haunting of Hill House and The Haunting of Bly Manor. This one’s about a small island where a new preacher ignites some kind of spooky religious fervor. Flanagan also wrote and directed two of my other favs, Hush and Doctor Sleep, in addition to a bunch of other good horror movies. I am SO excited to dig into this!!!
Last night I watched Intrusion, one of Netflix’s current trending movies. I went in blind and ended up getting super into it. It’s about a couple who build their dream home out in the country. It is, in fact, NOT the idyllic home of their dreams.
Another one of my all time favorite horror movies has hit Prime: April Fool’s Day (1986). A group of preppy 80s college kids spend spring break at a New England island mansion where they start disappearing one by one. Does anyone else remember obsessing over Muffy’s iconic noose braid on the VHS cover at the video store?
This week in horror:
- Elvira, Mistress of the Dark has come out.
- Here’s the trailer for the I Know What You Did Last Summer series that’s coming to Prime on October 15. James Wan is exec producing.
- The bloodiest and goriest horror movies of all time!
- Some creepy Jack Handy nostalgia happening on TikTok.
- Kevin Bacon is returning to horror in a “conversion therapy camp” horror!!! What a premise!
Creepy reads:
- The murder of Gabby Petito continues to rivet the internet. Brian Laundrie is now officially wanted by the FBI, so that helps.
- Another woman, Mary Johnson Davis, has been missing from the Tulalip reservation in Washington state since November 25. The FBI is now offering a $10,000 reward.
- Gone Girl, Sharp Objects, and Dark Places author Gillian Flynn just got her own book imprint!
Happy streaming and stay spooky!!!
