Jessica Chastain stars in Other Mommy in dual roles. First, she plays Ursula, the daughter of young Bela (Arabella Olivia Clark) who is struggling to adjust to life changes and her parents’ strained relationship. Chastain also plays an entity that takes the form of Ursula, who Bela has started calling “Other Mommy.”
The story involves Other Mommy’s repeated attempts to get closer to Bela for its own purposes. As it persists, it becomes more brazen, open, and aggressive in its attempts.
Other Mommy is adapted from the 2024 story by Josh Malerman titled Incidents Around the House. Nathan Elston adapted the story into the screenplay, and Rob Savage (Host, Dashcam, The Boogeyman) directed the film.
In addition to Jessica Chastain and Arabella Olivia Clark, the cast also includes Jay Duplass, Dichen Lachman, Arian Moayed, and Karen Allen.
Other Mommy is now playing in theaters.
