Anything But Ghosts is from director Curry Barker, the filmmaker behind this year’s smash horror hit Obsession. Barker teamed with his longtime comedy partner Cooper Tomlinson to co-write the script for Anything But Ghosts.

The upcoming movie is about two con artists who fake being paranormal investigators as they chase that sweet ghost-hunting fame. Things start going wrong when they encounter an actual haunting.

Curry Barker recently spoke about (in Deadline, Sept. 18 2026) how tough the shoot was for Anything But Ghosts. The script he and Tomlinson wrote ended up being about 130 pages long, and he only had 26 days to shoot it. Plus, unlike Obsession where Barker stayed behind the camera, he is a co-star in this new movie. He said Zach Cregger even gave him the advice of cutting 30 pages from the script, but Barker wanted to shoot all of it.

“It was the hardest thing I’ve ever done,” Curry Barker said, “and we were compromising shots left and right off the shot list. Gone. Just like coverage was going out the windows. It was crazy.”

Regardless of the challenges, I bet Anything But Ghosts is going to be great. Barker has also teased that it’s set within the same universe as Obsession.

Curry Barker and Cooper Tomlinson star in the film along with Violet McGraw, Chris Reinacher, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Aaron Paul.
