The upcoming anime series Death Stranding Isolations will stream on Disney+ in 2027, though no date has been revealed other than a vague “coming soon” in the trailer.
The write-up accompanying the trailer on YouTube (on the “Kojima Productions” channel) says that the streaming series is set “in North America immediately after Sam—the protagonist of the game—reconnects the continent by means of the Chiral Network.”
For the uninitiated, Death Stranding takes place in a world where the souls of the dead form into entities that cause massive explosions (technically a matter/antimatter voidout) when they come in contact with the living. That gives context for the brutal tagline seen on the poster for Death Stranding Isolations: “My mom became a crater.”
In the first teaser for Death Stranding Isolations, we’re shown a young girl who has lived so long in solitude that she’s come to prefer being alone. But fate will bring her in contact with other people, even as humanities survival hangs in the balance.
Hideo Kojima is an executive producer of Death Stranding Isolations. Takayuki Sano (animation director for episodes of Jujutsu Kaisen, Attack on Titan The Final Season, and more) is the director of the series. E&H Production (Magic Knight Rayearth 2026) is the animation studio for the show.
