Eibon Press Returns This Week to Bring You the Best Horror Comic Books of the Modern Era!
Eibon’s movie inspired graphic novels are filled with gore and greatness!

Back in 2016, an independent comic book publisher by the name of Eibon Press released their first issue. It was the first part of an adaptation of Lucio Fulci’s classic film Zombie (1979) which expanded on the original story. Since then, Eibon established itself as the best indie publisher for fans of comics made in the style of exploitation movies.
In 2023 we reported that Eibon Press had been purchased by the boutique physical media publisher Vinegar Syndrome. It was exciting news at the time, and it resulted in the release of a few pristine box sets of new editions of Eibon’s previously published titles, complete with tons of new material. It was great, but Eibon Press went silent for most of 2024. So what happened?

In an update from Eibon written by co-founder Stephen Romano and published on May 3rd of this year, the deal with Vinegar Syndrome is no more. Eibon Press is once again an independent entity publishing its own movie-related comics as well as its original creations. Vinger Syndrome will still help distribute through their site, but (as I understand it) the creative and publishing sides are solely owned by Eibon Press.
Honestly, as a huge fan of both EP and VS, I feel like this is the best scenario. More creative freedom for Eibon, but with the amplification of Vinegar Syndrome’s built-in fanbase. It’s a win-win if you ask me.
So, what does this all mean? It means there are lots of new books coming from Eibon Press this year and beyond! For starters, EP will publish a comic-book sequel to the infamous film The New York Ripper (1982), appropriately titled Lucio Fulci’s The New York Ripper 2!

The book is an 88-page graphic novel with limited runs of 1,000 and 500 copies for each of its two covers. There is also an extremely limited “Psycho Fan Bundle” with both editions of the book, an additional 120 behind-the-scenes book, an 11×17 poster, a gory bookmark, and a “Duckface” killer sticker. The psycho edition is limited to just 100 units, and based on my personal experience with Eibon’s book, the biggest bundles sell out extremely quickly.
When can you order The New York Ripper 2? It’s available Friday, May 23rd as part of Vinegar Syndrome’s annual Halfway to Black Friday sale!
Click here for more information about the book and how you can get your hands on it. Also keep checking Eibonpress.com to keep up with everything they have coming out over the next few months. Right now they’ve lined up releases for updated graphic novel versions of some of their best series from the past, including their Zombie sequel, the entire Saga of the 7 Gates trilogy, and Eibon originals Bottomfeeder and Wasteland 1989.
I can’t express how much I love these books. I’ve been collecting since issue 2 of Zombie, but I’ve missed a few of their titles along the way, so these updated collections are perfect! If you enjoy indie horror comics, especially from the 1980s and 1990s, I think you’ll love Eibon Press too.
