Each relative had a distinct voice, physicality, and prosthetic transformation. The technical and comic feat earned him a 1994 Primetime Emmy nomination.

And not to mention absolute nightmare fuel.

Ed Begley Jr. played Judd Campbell, a sleazy cemetery-plot salesman trapped in scenes opposite all 3 of Curry’s transformations. Campbell scams grieving widows before stumbling into the Bracketts’ murderous household, where Winona sees him as her chance at marriage and Pa still plans to shoot him because he’s in sales.

The episode, “Death of Some Salesmen,” aired October 2, 1993, as the Season 5 premiere of HBO’s Tales from the Crypt. Gilbert Adler directed and co-wrote it with A.L. Katz, loosely adapting a 1952 story from The Haunt of Fear. Eddie Murphy reportedly turned down the triple role before Curry took it.

As Pa tells Winona about her prospective husband, “I’ll marry him to you, but that’s as far as it goes.”
