At the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures’ 6th Annual Gala in Los Angeles on October 17, 2026, Hunter Schafer paired a custom strapless Prada gown with a tease about a vampire movie she’d filmed earlier that year. “Earlier this year I just did a vampire movie. I’m so excited about it. It might be my favorite thing I’ve ever filmed,” she said on the red carpet.

Schafer described the experience as “bat shit crazy.” She added, “Me and my fellow actresses also got to act in sort of this bat shit crazy way.” Asked if she plays a vampire, she kept her part under wraps: “I wonder if I’m allowed to say that… there’s literally like nothing out on IMDb called Untitled A24 Project. So I fear I don’t know if I can give up [the details].”

November 2025 casting reports linked Schafer to an untitled A24 horror film directed by The First Omen filmmaker Arkasha Stevenson, who co-wrote it with Tim Smith. Emma Corrin, Havana Rose Liu, Sophie Wilde and Josh Hutcherson were also named in the reports. The reported story centers on a bachelor party that descends into terror, with Ari Aster executive producing through Square Peg; Schafer’s role hasn’t been disclosed.

A black satin bow marked the waist of Schafer’s black velvet gown, which had a sweetheart neckline and fitted bodice. An asymmetric pleated panel shifted from white to ivory as it fell from a high side slit to the floor. She wore white pointed pumps and dangling pink and magenta gemstone-tone earrings, with her long blonde hair, tinted strawberry blonde, swept sideways in soft waves and her eye makeup softly defined.
A longtime Prada ambassador, Schafer previously wore a custom tailored suit to the 2025 Met Gala and a Klimt-inspired design in 2026. She plays Jules on Euphoria and has appeared in Cuckoo and The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. At the gala, she posed by the draped carpet backdrop and was photographed inside with Alexander Skarsgård, Colman Domingo and Tom Ford.
The gala raises money for the museum’s exhibitions, screenings and educational programs, and is sometimes called the “Met Gala of the West.” Rolex presented the 2026 event, with Robert Rodriguez, Steven Spielberg and Kate Capshaw among its co-chairs. Charlize Theron received the Icon Award, Domingo the Vantage Award and John Carpenter the Luminary Award; roughly 200 celebrities attended, and Taylor Swift performed.
