Inde Navarrette says she’s only watched “Obsession” with an audience, hiding under wigs so she can hear a theater react without being recognized.

“I hide really well, and they don’t see me,” the 25-year-old actress said. “I’ve worn many wigs.”
She plays Nikki opposite Michael Johnston’s Bear, who uses a supernatural charm called the One Wish Willow to make his coworker fall in love with him. Watching the horror film with different crowds, Navarrette has found 1 particularly reliable source of horror: the scene where Nikki serves Bear a sandwich made from his dead cat.

“It’s funny: Different audiences respond to completely different things. But the dead-cat sandwich gets everybody,” she said.
The movie frightened her, too. During filming, she sometimes avoided mirrors and watching footage of her own performance. “Oh, yes. I was definitely scared by a lot of Obsession,” she said.

She also encountered a viewer outside a theater while flying Air Canada to the Toronto Film Festival. After noticing a passenger looking her way, she passed his seat and realized he was watching the scene where Nikki walks backward.
“Yeah, I would be horrified too, if I saw that woman on the plane!” she recalled thinking.
“Obsession” is streaming on Peacock.
