A fan theory that circulated online held that Nikki is literally wearing Sarah’s hair in the climactic scene of Obsession, having scalped her after killing her, and wearing it when Bear returns home. Inde Navarrette has now answered it.
Asked about the theory by Allure (YouTube, Oct. 20, 2026), Navarrette said: “Oh, no. I saw that rumor. I was like, ‘You think Nikki scalped her?’” She went on: “I mean, hey, I don’t remember doing that. Sounds like something Nikki would do, but no, that is my hair that is curled. But there’s so much damage that has happened to her face, so this area is all bloodied and red.”
Warning: what follows discusses the ending of Obsession.

The theory about Nikki scalping Sarah is one that had gone unnoticed by many until recently.
Watching the movie, it’s clear that Nikki has made herself up to look like Sarah. She’s wearing Sarah’s clothes, and she’s marked herself with scrawled recreations of Sarah’s tattoos. Nikki’s hair is different from how we’ve seen it before, but it’s still clearly Nikki’s hair, just styled differently. Her hair is a bad imitation of Sarah’s hairstyle, because at that point Nikki thinks Bear will love her if she’s like Sarah.
The blood and damage on Nikki’s face and forehead, combined with the different hairstyle, might make it seem like it isn’t her own hair, but it is. There’s also a shot of Sarah’s body. Her dress is gone, because Nikki is wearing it, but her hair is still on what’s left of her head.
The theories and analyses of Obsession keep coming, a sign of how invested people are in the movie.
