Parker Posey was just announced as the lead in “Sleepover,” from Universal Pictures and Blumhouse Atomic Monster, with Jason Blum producing.

Posey’s horror history includes playing Jennifer Jolie in 2000’s “Scream 3” and vampire CEO Danica Talos in 2004’s “Blade: Trinity.” More recently, she appeared in “Beau Is Afraid” and season 3 of HBO’s “The White Lotus.”

Plot details are under wraps but we know the script began as a short story by Bryce McGuire, the screenwriter behind “Night Swim.” McGuire co-wrote the adaptation with Jacob Chase, who’s directing.

Chase also directed “Insidious: Out of the Further” for Blumhouse Atomic Monster. Released in August, that film earned $169 million worldwide on an $18 million budget. His other directing credits include the 2020 horror film “Come Play.”

“Sleepover” is a Cinescape Entertainment production. Chase, McGuire and Bea Sequeira are executive producers, and Lilly Tyson is overseeing the project. It is scheduled to reach theaters on Oct. 8, 2027.
