Nate Richert, who played Sabrina’s boyfriend Harvey Kinkle on Sabrina the Teenage Witch, described taking whatever work he could find after TV fame. In a September 4, 2018, tweet, he wrote: “I’m currently a maintenance man, a janitor, a carpenter, and do whatever random jobs I can get to pay the bills.”
Richert played Harvey across 123 episodes of the sitcom, which ran from 1996 to 2003 and starred Melissa Joan Hart. The show was part of ABC’s TGIF lineup, and Hart recalled it receiving a 52-episode order. He’d moved from Minnesota to Los Angeles in 1996 at 17, already emancipated and out of high school.
Richert recalled being rushed by fans at a Sam Goody. “I didn’t go into a mall for 10 years,” he said. In his 2018 tweet, he described what that recognition meant for his livelihood: “Fame, to me, has only ever meant ‘maybe more work someday.’”

Harvey was absent when season 5 premiered in September 2000. In an August 4, 2025, podcast appearance, Richert recalled being dropped after Harvey’s storylines ran out and said he hadn’t initially realized he’d been fired.
He’s also spoken about the mental health struggles that affected his acting career. “Anxiety and subsequent depression were my major game stoppers,” Richert wrote. In a June 2026 interview, he said he’d returned to Los Angeles in 2013 to try again.
Richert married Malorie Felt in 2019, and they separated in April 2022. In 2023, Felt said they had less than $47,000 in community and marital assets.
In an interview published October 26, 2026, Richert, 48, described another way he’s earning money: “One of my side hustles now is I work in locations.” He also records a weekly podcast with Curtis Andersen, The Nate and Curtis Show. “I still write and fart around with it, but I think I’m getting too old to tour,” he said of his music.
