Whose house? HIS HOUSE.

Horror fans are obsessed with this dark thriller about a refugee couple seeking asylum in England.

Hey Creepy Crawlers,

I hope your Halloween hangovers are healing and you’ve been stocking up on clearance Halloween decor for next year. Fingers crossed, I’m hoping to become a 12 foot skeleton house in my neighborhood next year. It might seem like things are slowing down for horror fans, but there’s still a lot to look forward to this year and next.

When the theaters open, we’ll finally get to see Candyman and Halloween Kills. We’ll also hopefully get a slew of quarantine-inspired horror movies based on real life. Plus, Netflix has seriously been stepping up their horror game. Here’s the best of what’s streaming this week:

Best of Netflix

His House. Horror fans are obsessed with this dark thriller about a refugee couple seeking asylum in England. The couple is granted public housing while they await their hearing though it is made clear that any small infraction could get them deported. This gets a lot harder when they realize their house is haunted af. His House currently has a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Best of Hulu:

Hometown Horror. I’m kind of obsessed with this new Travel Channel series that reminds me of the “hometown horror stories” from the My Favorite Murder podcast. Each episodes is about a different local horror story or urban legend from a different town. The reenactments are the latest in a long line of horror tv show reenactments that are somehow both corny and frightening. Binge all six episodes this weekend, you’ll definitely get at least one really good scare.

Best of Prime

Evil Eye. A brand new Blumhouse film about a mother who is suspicious of her daughter’s new boyfriend. Is she a paranoid mother who believes in *gasp* astrology? Or is the boyfriend actually the reincarnated spirit of her abusive ex? True crime/horror logic dictates that the boyfriend did it, but I’ll let you decide for yourselves:

This week’s Horror Happenings:

— A roundup of everything we know so far about Jordan Peele’s Candyman sequel.

— There was an unofficial study testing viewers heartbeats in order to determine the scariest movie of all time.

TikTokers are seeing skinwalkers everywhere.

— I collected the best arguments that Burke did it in the JonBenét Ramsey case as well as the best arguments for the intruder theory.

— Here are some sweet Stanley Kubrick images you can download and make your Zoom background.

— The “it puts the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again” woman gave an interview about The Silence of the Lambs.

— He bought a truck from a police auction yard for $140; after he drove it home, he discovered two bodies inside.

— Hulu’s Stephen King adaptation, Castle Rock, will end after two seasons.

— A first look at The Conjuring 3 which will be based on the infamous “devil made me do it” case.

Stay spooky!!!
