The next “Paranormal Activity” sends the story back to Katie and Micah’s house from Oren Peli’s 2007 found-footage original. The reveal came at Blumhouse’s BlumFest panel at New York Comic Con on Friday.
A set video showed director Ian Tuason standing in a recreation of that bedroom, telling fans the film would be “taking you back to a familiar space,” with footage from the first movie cut in so the match was obvious.

It’s the first concrete story detail anyone has gotten. Plot, title, and character names are still under wraps, so whether Katie or Micah turn up at all is unknown.
Tuason, who wrote and directed, has said he built this one for longtime fans. He told Film Stories he “loved the first three movies,” “studied those,” and is “taking what the first three did right, and I’m upgrading it, because the tech’s different,” while “making surprise connections to the old franchise.”

James Wan drove the revival after his Atomic Monster studio merged with Blumhouse. Wan, Jason Blum, and Peli produce.
Blum told the panel the franchise is “how Blumhouse started,” that they’d stopped making the films rather than run them into the ground, and that Wan coming to him “is really what made it happen.” Wan said they could “make a movie as scary as the first one and really pay tribute to the first one.”
Chase Yi (“Mythic Quest”), Sonia Mena (“Tell Me Lies”), and Maya da Costa (“Girls Like Girls”) lead. Shot in Toronto over the summer under the working title “Bavarian,” it hits theaters May 21, 2027, the franchise’s return to the big screen after “Next of Kin” went to Paramount+ in 2021.
