The Sequel to ‘Godzilla Minus One’ Has Been Officially Announced as ‘Godzilla Minus Zero’!
They added 1 to the title, making Godzilla Minus Zero!
Godzilla fans rejoice, because the sequel to Godzilla Minus One is officially coming soon!
There’s been speculation about a sequel ever since Godzilla Minus One (also written as Godzilla-1.0, or just G-1.0) was released, but we can all rest assured knowing that it is actually happening. At Godzilla Fest in Tokyo on November 3rd, Toho announced that the new movie will be titled Godzilla-0.0. They posted a short video on their official X.com account with the title, and a short while later posted a second video with the English title announcement. Check it out below.
There’s more good news! The writer and director of Godzilla Minus One, Takashi Yamazaki, is returning for the sequel, and he will again be working with Shirogumi to create the special effects for the film. G-1.0 was widely praised not just for its story and direction, but also for its spectacular visual effects which served the story extremely well. So, it’s amazing to hear that the team responsible for the original is back for the sequel!
No other information about cast, plot details, or a potential release date have been announced yet. We’ll of course keep watching for details in the coming weeks and months.
In the meantime, you can re-watch Godzilla Minus One on Netflix. Or if you want to treat yourself, I just saw that there’s a spectacular four-disc 4K/Blu-ray set currently available for pre-order on Godzilla.com. I already have a nice 4K edition, but I am tempted.
