This Movie Produced by Jordan Peele Fumbled at the Box Office, but You Can Watch ‘HIM’ at Home Now and Judge for Yourself
HIM is now streaming as a digital rental.

In the wide expanse of horror cinema, sports-horror is a relative rarity. I enjoy sport-themed horror, but maybe that’s too niche of a category for general audiences. That might help explain why HIM, a horror movie about a football player, dropped the ball when it was released in theaters.
HIM has only done $25 million in theaters, and with a reported $27 million budget, that’s not good. But hey, I’ll be the first to tell anyone that box office earnings are in no way representative of a movie’s quality. Lots of movies are awesome but do poorly in theaters. Many of my favorite movies get ripped apart by critics and online commentators. And that’s fine. Everyone’s taste is different, and everyone should judge movies for themselves.
With that in mind, HIM was released digitally today. Here’s the trailer:
HIM stars Tyriq Withers (I Know What You Did Last Summer) as a football player who trains with a legendary quarterback (Marlon Wayans) while recovering from an injury. The training gets a bit intense. And a little spooky.
I wasn’t able to see this in theaters (it’s still playing in a few locations), but I’ll definitely check it out at home. It’s at premium rental prices right now, but those will hopefully start dropping soon.
