'Trauma or, Monsters All' Is the Culmination of Larry Fessenden’s Indie Monsterverse, and It’s in Select Theaters November 4

Larry Fessenden is an actor and filmmaker whose career in film spans nearly five decades. His influence on independent cinema and the horror genre specifically can be felt through the work of filmmakers like Ti West whose early films Fessenden produced. One of the biggest influences on Fessenden himself are the classic Universal Monsters. So he created his own version of a connected monster-movie universe.

Larry Fessenden wrote and directed Trauma or, Monsters All. He also stars in it, reprising his role of Sam from Habit.

Back in 1995, Larry Fessenden wrote, directed, edited, and starred in a movie titled Habit (released in 1997), which was his take on a vampire movie. More than two decades later, he released Depraved, an interpretation of a Frankenstein movie. And then in 2023 he made Blackout, his version of a werewolf/wolf man movie.

Alex Breaux returns as Adam from Depraved, and Alex Hurt returns as Charley from Blackout.

Trauma or, Monsters All brings the “monsters” of Habit, Depraved, and Blackout together in the town of Talbot Falls (where Blackout takes place). The story begins with a writer publishing a story about the history of Talbot Falls, which riles up the community and shines an unwanted light on the monsters who would much rather stay hidden.

Laetitia Hollard stars as Cassandra. Her article is the impetus for the plot of the film.

In a statement, Fessenden said, “I’ve spent my career reimagining classic monsters because they reveal something deeply human about us. TRAUMA OR, MONSTERS ALL brings those stories together into one film about memory, identity, and the wounds we carry.”

Trauma or, Monsters All will be in limited theaters beginning November 4, 2026.
