5 Highly-Anticipated Horror Movies Releasing in May

It’s time to plan a month full of movie nights as we look forward to the most highly-anticipated horror movies releasing in May 2025. A lot of big movies are coming out this month and this list will take a look at the most-anticipated releases. May 9: Clown in a Cornfield 

Clown in a Cornfield is a dark comedy slasher movie about a small midwestern town where a mascot from a bygone era, Frendo the Clown, terrorizes a group of teens. It’s not immediately apparent how the comedic and horror elements of Clown in a Cornfield work together, but it’s best not to think about it too much before viewing. Variety promised this movie has the biggest twist since 2011’s Cabin in the Woods.

May 16: Final Destination Bloodlines

This sixth Final Destination film sees a college student who has premonitions about death seek answers about her fate. The previews have shown some great death traps that Bloodlines has in store for viewers. Check out this sequence where a man’s nose piercing gets caught on a chain wrapped up in a ceiling fan. You can also brush up on the most iconic Final Destination death scenes in the franchise if you want to get really hyped up for Final Destination: Bloodlines.

May 16: Hurry Up Tomorrow

Hurry Up Tomorrow is a musical psychological thriller starring Jenna Ortega, Abel Tesfaye (AKA The Weeknd), Barry Keoghan and Riley Keough. The Weeknd plays a musician with insomnia who goes on an “existential odyssey” with an enigmatic stranger. Director Trey Edward Shults previously made the slow burn horror movie It Comes at Night (2017).

May 23: Fear Street: Prom Queen

Netflix’s next original horror film will be the fourth Fear Street movie, a slasher about the toxic race for Prom Queen at Shadyside High in 1988. If you can’t wait for May 23, you can rewatch the previous Fear Street trilogy on Netflix or catch these horror movies about prom.

May 30: Bring Her Back

Bring Her Back is an A24 horror movie from Danny and Michael Philippou, the brothers responsible for 2022’s Talk to Me. A brother and sister are arrive at a home where their foster mother engages in a terrifying ritual. From the look of the trailer, this may be the scariest of all the May horror releases.
