‘Push’ Trailer Reaction: Home Invasion Meets Pregnancy Horror

The makers of The Boy Behind the Door team up again for a new thriller!

Push streams on Shudder in July.

A new trailer was posted earlier today (June 20th) for a movie coming soon to Shudder. Push is the title, and it looks exciting!

Push is a new movie from writers and directors David Charbonier and Justin Douglas Powell. The pair previously teamed up for The Djinn (2021) and The Boy Behind the Door (2020). (Note: The Djinn was actually the first feature they made together, but it ended up getting released second.) Together, they have a knack for creating an intense and suspenseful atmosphere. That looks like exactly what Push is going to deliver. Take a look at the trailer below.

Did you notice the A Nightmare on Elm Street reference in the trailer?

Push is about a pregnant realtor, Natalie (Alicia Sanz), who is hosting an open house at the site of a huge but hard-to-sell house. A man (Raúl Castillo) shows up to the open house, but he’s not looking to buy. The man is a killer, and he’s targeted Natalie. To make matters more terrifying and urgent, as Natalie tries to escape, she goes into premature labor.

It’s a great setup for a thriller, and knowing what the directors did previously with The Boy Behind the Door, I have very high hopes for Push. I particularly enjoy that the trailer seems like it’s going to be a haunted house movie, but then it’s suddenly a home invasion, cat-and-mouse thriller. It’s a clever misdirection that establishes a fittingly spooky atmosphere for a movie that will likely rely more on suspense and action as the plot unfolds.

Push starts streaming on Shudder on July 11, 2025, and I’m sure we’ll be talking more about it here once it’s out. You can also stay up to date on this and tons more new horror on our New & Upcoming Horror Movies tracker which is updated at least twice a week, every week.
