Robed Cultists, Blood, and Something Ancient: The Behemoth Is Now on Prime Video

The Behemoth is a German horror film with upsetting cult rituals and plenty of practical effects and gore.

Rebecca and Ryan take a vacation together in a snowy mountain town. The trip takes a turn for the terrifying when robed and masked cult members show up one night with the intent of performing a ritual to summon something ancient.

What does the cult want to summon?

Filmmaker Kai Edmund Bogatzki (editor of Garden of Eden and Pretty Boy) directed and co-wrote The Behemoth. His co-writers were Rapsodies Sas and Orso Vesperini. Starring as Rebecca is Sarah Dawes, and Ryan is played by Ryan Wichert. Beatrice Fletcher also stars.

Something terrible is happening or about to happen.

Dread Central said in their film festival review of The Behemoth (published May 1, 2025) that the film subverts horror fans’ expectations and eventually becomes something “nightmarish” along the lines of Evil Dead (2013).

The Behemoth became available to rent and purchase digitally in the U.S. region on August 25, 2026. As of this writing, it can be found for rent on Prime Video.
