The town of Palacios, the place where nothing bad can happen. Or so the sign welcoming people into the city says. The truth is, women in Palacios have been disappearing. When a new inspector begins working in the town, his prime suspect for the crimes is Tomás, a video-store clerk who wears a boy scout uniform and makes dolls from discarded parts.
The Dollmaker is from Argentinian director José María Cicala (Shadow of the Cat). Cicala co-wrote the script with Griselda Sanchez.

Film Threat says The Dollmaker takes inspiration from Psycho, by way of David Lynch (in their review posted August 25, 2026).
