Head of the Family was released in 1996 by low-budget genre studio Full Moon. The movie is about a family of mutants led by Myron, a man with a giant head and a tiny body. It’s a goofy, fun B-movie that did well enough to prompt Full Moon founder Charles Band to announce a sequel as early as 1997. Despite repeated announcements over the next few decades, no sequel ever got made. Until now.
Charles Band recently shared videos of effects artist Tom Devlin creating the new version of the Head, as well as streams from the set of Head of the Family 2: Sirens of Seduction. The synopsis of the film involves the Head concocting a plan to claim a normal body with black magic, but his intended sacrifices catch on to what he’s doing.

Up until now, the title of the Head of the Family sequel was going to be Bride of the Head of the Family. Charles Band announced it in one of his Videozone updates that were included along with Full Moon’s movies released on VHS (and later on DVD). By 1997, Bride of the Head of the Family was announced as coming soon. But nothing happened.
In 2012 Band announced Bride of the Head of the Family in another Videozone. The movie was again announced in 2019, this time as part of the “Deadly 10” movies that Full Moon planned to make back to back, livestreaming the entirety of their production. A few of the movies got made, but the pandemic derailed the project. Bride was one of the casualties of the pandemic.
But now, Head of the Family 2 is currently in production. The bride is gone, and she’s been replaced by two seductive sirens. Why? I’m not entirely sure. I did just find out that Bride of the Head of the Family got made into a comic book in 2020, which is probably a big reason why they changed course for the film sequel. But looking around, I found a poster from Full Moon with the title Sirens of Seduction, and it certainly doesn’t appear to be connected to Head of the Family.
The poster (clearly made with AI, which Full Moon has done a lot of over the past few years) shows what looks like a vampire holding a box with two small female heads. The accompanying write-up (found on Reddit copied from an official poll) describes a professor who created two flying heads that, for a price, will “fly, sing, kiss and kill.”
In the official poster for Head of the Family 2, we see the giant-headed Myron holding a box with two small female heads. The write-up explains that Myron cursed two beautiful women to become shrunken heads who seduce the wicked. And then they turn on him.
So, it sounds to me like the original idea for Sirens of Seduction was repurposed as a sequel to Head of the Family, and Myron’s big head was wedged into the framework of a completely different story. I don’t know for sure that it went down like that, but that’s what it looks like.
Regardless, Head of the Family 2 is on the way, which is cool. Michael Citriniti, the original Myron, is returning to reprise his role. Also, the fact that they’re using practical effects, at least for the head, is promising. I’ve lost interest in many of Full Moon’s more recent movies because of their extensive use of AI in certain films and in most of the promotional art. Maybe this will be different though. We’ll see.
