Mike Flanagan’s new Carrie series treats the destruction of Chamberlain like a disaster that survivors and investigators are still trying to explain.
The 8-episode limited series reconstructs what happened in Chamberlain through the evidence left behind, giving the aftermath as much weight as the night itself.
Mike Flanagan is also rebuilding the road to prom for a modern high school. Carrie White, played by Summer H. Howell, enters public school after her father dies and faces bullying that spreads through phones and social media as her telekinetic powers emerge. Samantha Sloyan plays her mother, Margaret.
The series expands a thread from Stephen King’s 1974 novel suggesting Carrie isn’t alone. Beginning with episode 2, each hour opens with another woman from a different time and place discovering similar abilities.
This is the book’s first series adaptation and Flanagan’s fourth King project after Gerald’s Game, Doctor Sleep, and The Life of Chuck. The cast also includes Siena Agudong, Alison Thornton, Joel Oulette, Josie Totah, Arthur Conti, Amber Midthunder, Matthew Lillard, Katee Sackhoff, Rahul Kohli, Heather Graham, and Tahmoh Penikett.
Mike Flanagan directs episodes 1, 2, 7, and 8. Kate Siegel, Axelle Carolyn, Kyra Sedgwick, and Hiromi Kamata direct the remaining episodes. All 8 arrive worldwide on Prime Video on October 7, 2026.
