Joe Hill wasn’t expecting a horror trailer to get to him. But watching the preview for Mike Flanagan‘s ‘Carrie’ on Instagram, the author found himself fighting back tears — and he took to Threads to say so.
“Never had that happen before, watching a preview. Maybe I’m getting a bit soggy in my fifties, I don’t know. Looks so good tho, Mike Flanagan sure can make em,” Hill wrote.
Hill would know good horror when he sees it. He’s a bestselling author in his own right, and he’s also Stephen King’s son — and King himself has been just as enthusiastic about the adaptation of his 1974 debut novel. “Mike Flanagan’s version of CARRIE is brilliant,” King wrote on Threads. “What it has to say about social media is shocking and true.”
The miniseries premieres October 7 on Prime Video, with Summer H. Howell in the title role. It follows Carrie White, a sheltered teenager raised inside the walls of her home by her protective mother Margaret (Samantha Sloyan). After her father’s sudden death, Carrie enters public high school and gets caught in a viral bullying scandal as her telekinetic powers begin to surface.
The cast also includes Siena Agudong, Alison Thornton, Joel Oulette, Josie Totah, Amber Midthunder, and Matthew Lillard as Principal Grayle.
