HGTV has found a new home for its competition series inside one of the creepiest places imaginable: a Victorian house said to be haunted. On A Very Haunted Renovation, six designers live and work inside Bihl Manor in Fremont, Ohio, a house with a longstanding reputation for paranormal activity, as they compete through renovation and elimination challenges for a $50,000 cash prize.
The series premiered September 15 and is hosted by Anna Camp, 43. Camp told Us Magazine that her model for the hosting gig was Ariana Madix, 41, who has fronted Love Island USA since 2024.
“I’m kind of the Ariana Madix of HGTV’s Haunted Renovation,” Camp said. “She was my hero, my reality host hero, you could say.”
According to Camp, the competition grew tense once contestants made clear they weren’t there to make friends. She’d try to lighten the mood with jokes, only to hear a producer tell her, “Anna, this is serious, be scary.”
The role brings together Camp’s longtime love of HGTV and her horror credits, which include 2023’s From Black and this year’s Scream 7. She said strange things happened during production, too, though she stopped short of describing them.
In fact, Camp suspects the paranormal activity may have followed her home to an Airbnb in New York. She said the same shirt keeps ending up on the floor while still on its hanger, and a garbage can door keeps reopening after she closes it.
“Maybe they’re following me,” Camp said of the spirits associated with Bihl Manor. “The ghosts are following me. As long as they’re friendly, I’m OK with it.”
New episodes air Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on HGTV.
