Before He Made ‘Practical Magic,’ Griffin Dunne Played a Backpacker Torn Apart by a Werewolf in the 1981 Cult Horror Classic

Griffin Dunne’s horror résumé started in front of the camera. In 1981’s An American Werewolf in London, he was Jack Goodman — the American backpacker the wolf gets first. Jack then comes back as a rotting corpse to warn his friend.

Seventeen years later he switched chairs and directed ‘Practical Magic’, the romantic witchcraft classic that still owns midnight margaritas. Same last name on the call sheet. Completely different kind of haunting.
