Billie Lourd’s answer to a possible Halloweentown prequel is already a yes: “I’m available. I’m so available. I would absolutely love to do that.”
Her grandmother Debbie Reynolds played Aggie Cromwell, the witch Lourd grew up watching and now wants her own children to know.
Asked about fans’ hopes for a prequel at the American Horror Story: 13 event at PaleyFest NY on October 8, Lourd, 34, added: “100%, not even consider. I’m like, ‘Sign me up. When do we start?’” She was expressing interest in a potential movie.
Reynolds, who died in 2016 at 84, first played Aggie in Disney Channel’s Halloweentown in 1998. The franchise continued with Halloweentown II: Kalabar’s Revenge in 2001, Halloweentown High in 2004 and Return to Halloweentown in 2006.
For Lourd, those movies carry a personal history. “And the sweet thing about my grandma is she, later in her career, started doing roles so I could watch them. She was in Charlotte’s Web, she was in Rugrats,” she said. “She did Halloweentown all because she wanted me to watch them.”
Lourd shares son Kingston Fisher, 6, and daughter Jackson Joanne, 3, with husband Austen Rydell. Getting them to try Halloweentown means interrupting their repeat favorites: “I’m gonna bribe them with candy and popsicles and make them watch it because it’s one of my favorite movies of all time,” she said.
She’s also choosing work with her children in mind, including her role in the 2025 Smurfs movie. “I wanna do more animated stuff. I just want them to watch my work because they can’t watch [American Horror Story].”
