C.W. Morgan, the actor behind Hank Loomis in 1996’s Scream, died on August 30 at 72. Los Angeles County Medical Examiner records list his cause of death as deferred, with a final determination still pending. He died in his bathroom, and his body has been released to his family.

His daughter remembered their drives along Mulholland and trips to Starbucks in a social media tribute. “Losing you has left the biggest hole in my heart,” she wrote. “I’m grateful and lucky to have had you as my daddy. My Guck. Rest easy bubby. Life will never be the same without you and your poorly timed jokes that I inherited from you.”
Morgan’s brief Scream role connected him to the story’s central family rupture. Hank, a lawyer, defended his son Billy Loomis, played by Skeet Ulrich, during questioning at a police station.

The Loomis family broke apart because of his affair with Sidney Prescott’s mother. That affair also helped trigger Billy’s killing spree. Neve Campbell played Sidney.
Born in Bisbee, Arizona, on June 8, 1954, Morgan also appeared in The Last of His Tribe (1992) and Metro (1997), and worked on the 1997 video game The Last Express. He returned as Hank in a flashback in Scream 3 (2000).
