Horror fans have been waiting to see what Zach Cregger will do next since his sleeper hit Barbarian came out in 2022. Earlier this month at CinemaCon, the director unveiled the trailer for his next film, Weapons, to rave reviews. The trailer has finally been made available to the public:

Weapons stars Josh Brolin and Julia Garner as two members of a small Florida community where all the children have suddenly gone missing. The trailer’s voiceover describes the story: “Mrs. Gandy’s room was totally empty…Because the night before, at 2:17 a.m., every kid woke up, got out of bed, walked downstairs and into the dark and they never came back.” The missing children return in disturbing forms to haunt Mrs. Gandy and other townspeople.

Early praise includes New Line Cinema chief Richard Brener who called it “Intriguing and unpredictable, with a nice helping of batshit insane.” Variety also raved about the Weapons trailer, saying “We can’t stress how upsetting some of this footage was.”

The early response to Weapons has been so favorable that the film’s release was moved up from January 2026 to August 8, 2025.
