Curry Barker wanted to work with Nathan Fielder enough to ask him directly. After watching Fielder’s Elizabeth Holmes documentary, You Can See Everything, the Obsession director floated a collaboration.

“I just put it out in the water,” Barker said.

Speaking at the Time100 Next Gala on Oct. 29, Barker said he’d gone into the film knowing little about Holmes. Its 3-hour runtime still left him wanting more.

“I thought it was freakin’ insane and awesome,” Barker said. “I didn’t know much about [Elizabeth Holmes’] story going into it. I feel like I missed certain tiny things, but it was three hours long and I wished it was longer. That’s rare, you know?”
Barker singled out the way Fielder approaches documentary filmmaking: “It felt new, fresh, different,” he said. “You almost can’t even call it a documentary, but it totally is. I’m just a huge fan of what [Fielder] is doing.”
