One of the Strangest Horror Movies I’ve Ever Seen

Fans of weird movies will dig it and horror fans will get to see something new.

A man’s “dog” is actually an adult human in a dog costume in the Norwegian horror movie Good Boy (2022).

From the moment I saw the trailer for the Norwegian horror movie Good Boy, I knew this was a movie I needed to watch. Originally titled Meg, deg & Frank (“Me, you & Frank) this film centers around a woman named Sigrid (Katrine Lovise Øpstad Fredriksen) who meets a man named Christian (Gard Løkke) on a dating app. The two hit it off, but Sigrid is freaked out when she goes to Christian’s house and discovers that his “dog” named Frank is actually a fully grown man in a dog costume.

Sigrid (Katrine Lovise Øpstad Fredriksen) is shocked that Frank acts like a dog, rather than the man in a dog costume he is.

It seems like the film should stop right there. Sigrid is freaked out, leaves the house and plans to never see Christian again. However, Sigrid’s roommate informs her that Christian is actually a multimillionaire heir and gasses her up about the possibility of being with such a wealthy and handsome man. Additionally, while talking to Christian, he compares Frank’s desire to live his life as a dog to the discrimination queer people face, and guilts Sigrid into accepting the situation.

Christian’s “dog” is actually an adult human in a dog costume.

Sigrid comes to think that the Frank situation isn’t a dealbreaker and continues dating Christian. The two decide on a weekend away together at Christian’s secluded country home where things take a sickening turn. By the time Sigrid decides she doesn’t want to deal with Frank, it might be too late.

Christian (Gard Løkke) warns Sigrid that Frank must be treated like any other dog.

Overall, Good Boy is pretty freaky. Not only is the idea repulsive, but there is a twist about halfway into the movie that makes the story much more intense. Fans of weird movies will dig it and horror fans will get to see something new. Good Boy (2022) is currently streaming on Prime Video.
