12 Highly-Anticipated Horror Movies Yet to Release in 2025

September 5: The Conjuring: Last Rites
Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson return as Lorraine and Ed Warren in The Conjuring: Last Rites. The story is based on the “true story” of Ed and Lorraine’s investigation into a haunting the Smurl family experienced in 1986. The case was previously the basis of a 1991 made-for-television movie called The Haunted.
September 12: The Long Walk
A dystopian horror movie based on the Stephen King novel of the same name. A group of boys sign up for a contest in which they walk at a speed of 3 mph (or die) until only one remains to claim the prize.
September 19: Him
Produced by Jordan Peele and directed by Justin Tipping, Him is a highly-anticipated sports horror movie about a promising young football player (Tyriq Withers) who is invited to train with his team’s legendary quarterback (Marlon Waynes).
September 26: The Strangers — Chapter 2
The second of three Strangers movies directed by Renny Harlin. The story picks up with Chapter 1‘s Maya (Madelaine Petsch) as The Strangers continue to hunt her. Chapter 2‘s release has been delayed after Chapter 1 was poorly received, so hopefully they’ve used the extra time to make improvements and get this trilogy back on track.
October 2: Hell House LLC: Lineage
The fifth and final entry into the Hell House LLC franchise. Vanessa Shepard discovers her connection to the Abaddon Hotel, Carmichael Manor, and decades of unexplained murders. Hell House LLC: Lineage will hit limited theaters on August 20 before premiering on Shudder on October 2.
October 3: Coyotes
Real life couple Justin Long and Kate Bosworth star as couple trapped in their Hollywood Hills home by a wildfire and a pack of evil coyotes. This is a comedy horror movie directed by Colin Minihan (What Keeps You Alive, Grave Encounters).
October 5: Good Boy
This supernatural horror movie features a dog protagonist worried about his humans after the family moves into a haunted house.
October 17: The Black Phone 2
Scott Derrickson returns to direct with Ethan Hawke, Mason Thames, Madeleine McGraw, Jeremy Davies, and Miguel Cazarez Mora reprising their roles. Finn recovers from his time in captivity while his sister begins receiving calls from the black phone in her dreams. The Black Phone was based on a story by Joe Hill, and he approved Derrickson’s idea for the sequel’s plot.
October 17: Frankenstein
Written and directed by Guillermo del Toro, Frankenstein is a highly anticipated gothic sci-fi movie that may not actually be a horror movie. Frankenstein will release in theaters on October 17 and then premiere on Netflix on November 7.
November 14: Keeper
Plot details are scarce on Oz Perkin’s upcoming horror movie. IMDB’s plot synopsis says only: “A dark trip from Osgood Perkins.” We pretty much just know that it stars stars Tatiana Maslany and Rossif Sutherland.
December 5: Five Nights at Freddy’s 2
Emma Tammi returns to direct this sequel based on the video game series. Original cast members Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Lail, Piper Rubio, and Matthew Lillard will return along with new cast members Skeet Ulrich, Wayne Knight, Mckenna Grace, and Teo Briones. The promise of Matthew Lillard and Skeet Ulrich on screen together again is something for horror fans to salivate over until Freddy’s 2 release in December.
December 12: Silent Night, Deadly Night
A remake of the 1984 Christmas horror movie. A little boy witnesses a man in a Santa suit murder his parents. Years later he dons the suit himself and sets off on a violent quest for revenge.
