Two Murderers Who Blamed Their Crimes on the ‘Halloween’ Movies
“He said he’d binge-watched Rob Zombie’s 2007 remake of the original Halloween three times in the week prior to the murders.”

Halloween (1978) is one of the best and scariest horror movies ever made. It is beloved by generations of horror fans. It’s also inspired two real life crimes.
After viewing 1981’s Halloween II, a California handyman named Richard Boyer killed an elderly couple, stabbing them a combined 43 times. Boyers told authorities that he murdered the couple while high on PCP and cocaine, which he says caused him to hallucinate that he was being attacked by Michael Myers.
In 2012, 17-year-old Texas resident Jake Evans shot his mother and sister dead in their home. He said he’d binge-watched Rob Zombie’s 2007 remake of the original Halloween three times in the week prior to the crime. “While watching it I was amazed at how at ease the boy was during the murders,” Evans would write, “and how little remorse he had afterwards. I was thinking to myself it would be the same for me when I kill someone.”

Of course, murderers aren’t exactly known for their truth-telling, so we’ll take these confessions with a grain of salt.
