3 Horror Movies to Watch Next if You Loved ‘Weapons’ (2025)

Are you ready for more?

Julia Garner stars in Weapons, now playing in theaters!

Even when compared to previous years, this past summer blockbuster season has been nothing short of amazing.

With no end to the fantastic movies making their theatrical debut, viewers have been able to see practically any kind of film they can possibly imagine, be it a superhero epic like The Fantastic Four and Superman or a laugh-out-loud comedy like The Naked Gun.

Of course, one notable blockbuster that’s been doing incredibly well this season is the chilling new horror movie, Weapons. Earning rave reviews and dominating at the box office since its release last week, Weapons has quickly become one of the most exciting releases of 2025 yet, capturing the interests of mainstream audiences around the globe.

As the new horror film continues to perform exceptionally well in cinemas across the country, we decided to take a look at several movies we’d recommend once you’ve seen Weapons in theaters.

Barbarian (2022)

Justin Long in Barbarian.

The previous film written and directed by Weapons’ Zach Cregger, Barbarian is also the film that put the young filmmaker on the map. An impressive psychological horror film bolstered by an exceptional cast, Barbarian unfolds with rigid dramatic tension, gradually upping its sense of suspense throughout its hour and 40-minute time. What follows is a nightmare-fueled horror movie straight out of our deepest, darkest imaginations, one capable of toppling viewers’ expectations from its intriguing start up to its pulse-pounding conclusion.

The Black Phone (2021)

The Grabber is the villain of The Black Phone.

Like his father (the legendary writer Stephen King), Joe Hill has proven himself quite adept at exploring the horror genre, as evidenced by the 2021 adaptation of his short story, The Black Phone. Among the better Blumhouse films in recent memory, The Black Phone also serves as an unforgettable horror story that completely inverts the traditional ghost narrative, focusing on a kidnapped child fending off a brutal serial killer with the help of his previous, vengeful victims.

Longlegs (2024)

Nic Cage in Longlegs.

In many ways, Weapons’ growing success and viral pre-release ad campaign seem to echo the 2024 psychological horror film, Longlegs. As with its 2025 successor, Longlegs served as one of the biggest, most enigmatic films of last year’s catalog, mainly owing to Nicolas Cage’s highly publicized role as the titular character. Evoking a central plot reminiscent to some degree of The Silence of the LambsLonglegs nevertheless achieves its own unique place in the larger field of horror, doubling down on its highly original tone, story, and altogether foreboding atmosphere.
