Netflix is heading to the cold, isolated waters of Newfoundland for its new horror series Below, where a remote coastal town finds itself under attack by an unseen threat. At the center of it all is one man forced to protect his family and community from whatever is hunting them. The trailer keeps that menace hidden, refusing to offer a clear look at what’s lurking just out of frame — and that restraint is exactly what makes it so unsettling.

The story unfolds across six episodes, with a cast that includes Josh Hartnett alongside Charlie Heaton, Mackenzie Davis, Rohan Campbell, Ruby Stokes, Kaleb Horn, and Willow Kean.

The limited series was created by Jesse McKeown, whose credits include The Umbrella Academy. McKeown has cited John Carpenter and Steven Spielberg among the series’ influences — a pairing that promises both dread and spectacle as the mystery of the creature slowly surfaces.

Below premieres on Netflix on October 8.
