Now, I’m not saying Anthony Mackie is lying. I just wonder what he means by “everybody.”

Here is Mackie’s full quote, as published by ScreenRant (Nov. 3, 2026):

“We were able to get everybody back, and we were able to evolve the story so much more. And [we were] lucky enough to get Anthony Carrigan back. It’s just a really fun season. I feel like if you watch season 2 from season 1, you see, “Wow, there’s really something happening here.” And season 3 just goes off the richter, man. And Stephanie Beatriz is just an awesome partner. I feel like we’re a great duo, man. Everything is just rock-paper-scissors to see who’s gonna get punched in the face next. [Chuckles] You get to see all of that again in season 3. So, it’s amazing.”

So, he does mention a couple of people, Stephanie Beatriz (Quiet) and Anthony Carrigan (Calypso), who are essential to the show. I also know Sweet Tooth is back, because Samoa Joe was absent from AEW for weeks while he filmed his part. That’s all super awesome.

But it was a huge disappointment earlier this year when Mike Mitchell himself said that he wasn’t asked back for the third season. Mitchell plays Stu, a character who had one of the most interesting arcs between seasons one and two of Twisted Metal. To me, he’s practically the heart of the show. Not in a central-to-the-story kind of way, but in a “he’s a good guy who maybe lost his way because he was scared but he can redeem himself” kind of way.

Plus, the way season two ended, it seemed like a guarantee that Stu would be back.

Maybe something changed and the makers of Twisted Metal did get Mike Mitchell back after he talked about it publicly. Maybe. We’ll see.
