Look at the cast of this season’s two biggest horror series. Callum Vinson plays young Jason Voorhees in Peacock’s Crystal Lake, and Summer H. Howell is the lead in Prime Video’s Carrie. It turns out both of them cut their horror teeth in the Child’s Play universe.

Vinson played Henry Collins in seven episodes of the Chucky TV series between 2023 and 2024. And Howell’s history with the killer doll goes back even further. She was cast as Alice in Curse of Chucky (2013) when she was just 8 years old, then returned as Alice Pierce in 2017’s Cult of Chucky. In Curse, Alice is a young girl who keeps Chucky as her toy, and he promises he’s her friend to the end before things take a dark turn.
Her story is a big deal in the franchise: Alice becomes Chucky’s 39th victim and the first person he possessed since his soul was transferred into the original doll nearly 30 years earlier. Even better, Howell was reportedly scared of the scarred Chucky doll, so her scenes with him were superimposed.

It’s wild to think that a kid who survived a possessed doll as a child grew up to play Carrie White, one of horror’s most famous outcasts, and that another young actor from the same universe is now stepping into the hockey mask’s origin story. Vinson isn’t slowing down either: he’s also set to play Atreus in Prime Video’s live-action God of War.
Chucky really does pick his friends well.
