Christopher Lloyd had a birthday message for the people he loves as he turned 88 today: “Today I turn 88…I’ve seen some serious shit. The most serious of it all is love. I love my family, my friends, and my wonderful fans. The power of love remains.”
The Back to the Future actor was playing on Doc Brown’s warning: “When this baby hits 88 miles per hour, you’re gonna see some serious shit.” His closing words also echo “The Power of Love,” the Huey Lewis and the News song from the film.

Michael J. Fox had already made the birthday connection in March. Sharing a dinner photo with Lloyd, he wrote, “Dining with my bestie,” and added, “Chris will be [88]. That’s some serious s—.” Lloyd’s reply: “Man, that’s heavy.”
Lloyd’s family includes his wife, Lisa Loiacono, the real estate agent who sold his Montecito, California, home. They married in 2016.

In a 2021 interview, he called her “my best fan” and said of his 5th marriage, “Five is the last.” Loiacono interjected: “No 5 is sitting right here!”
He also described how lockdown brought them closer: “We have dinners at home; Lisa prepares wonderful food. I think we got to know each other more, and better.” In that same interview, Loiacono said she hiked every morning with his 4th wife, Jane Walker Wood. “Funny how life turns out,” Lloyd said.
His memoir, In My Own Time, comes out October 27 from Grand Central. In it, he writes, “To this day I feel like I never really learned how to talk.”
