Caleb T. Suh, a former West Point cadet, admitted in federal court that he obtained Xanax to sedate his pregnant girlfriend without her knowledge so he could administer abortion pills. He pleaded guilty to felony assault in June 2026.

Her lawsuit alleges he carried out the plan with a drugged shake and that she lost a pregnancy she wanted to keep.

The woman, identified as Jane Doe, was also a West Point cadet. They began dating in 2020, and she learned she was pregnant in 2022. According to her suit, Suh opposed continuing the pregnancy and threatened suicide if she refused an abortion before pretending to support her decision to have the baby.

His plea and her lawsuit describe how he used her identity to create an online pharmacy account and order abortion medication in her name for delivery to West Point. He also obtained Xanax from a friend.

“My intent was [to] use the Xanax to unwittingly sedate my girlfriend so that I could then administer the abortion pills, which I had obtained via the online pharmacy,” Suh said in his guilty plea.

The lawsuit says he presented a shake containing Xanax and promethazine as a pregnancy supplement. When she objected to its taste, he allegedly pressed the bottle to her lips and forced her to keep drinking.

She became ill and drifted in and out of consciousness over the following hours, the suit says. It alleges Suh inserted abortion pills into her vagina and put pills in her mouth. She recalled spitting out 2 pills, which he allegedly pushed back into her mouth, telling her, “Eat this” and “It’s good for you.”

When she awoke bleeding heavily, she tried to reach Suh and then called 911. According to the lawsuit, doctors confirmed a miscarriage and performed a dilation and curettage, or D&C, to remove pregnancy tissue.

The filing also alleges that Suh used the pharmacy’s online forum to ask whether doctors might find pills remaining in her vagina while he wasn’t answering her calls.

After their relationship ended, Suh attended Cornell University and later enrolled in Columbia University’s public-health master’s program, according to court documents. The account of his Cornell attendance contains conflicting dates, so the timing of that degree isn’t clear.

A person familiar with the situation said Columbia hadn’t known about his conviction before media inquiries and that its applications didn’t ask applicants to disclose criminal histories. That person said the university “took swift action” after learning of the case, without specifying what it did.

Suh remains awaiting sentencing. A judge granted his request to postpone sentencing until January 2027 so he could finish his semester. Prosecutors are seeking 2 years in prison.
