Andy Muschietti is busy casting the season. Filming is planned for summer 2027.

The plot will follow the Bradley Gang, bank robbers whose stop in Derry to stock up on ammunition leads to a massacre. Muschietti said their real-world inspiration was the Brady Gang, a group of robbers killed on the streets of Bangor, Maine.

The jump backward fits Muschietti’s proposed 3-season structure, which follows Pennywise’s cycles through 1962, 1935 and 1908. Season 1’s finale drew 6.5 million viewers in the U.S.
