Leaving Soon! The 9 Best Horror Movies Leaving Tubi in May 2025
Stream some of the best horror movies for free!

When it comes to deep libraries of streaming horror movies from all eras and of all genres, Tubi is tops. They have thousands of fright flicks available to stream for free every month, from the best high-profile horror to some of the most obscure micro-budget movies you’ve never even heard of.
Naturally, there is turnover from month to month. Titles join, titles leave. Tubi doesn’t always give specific dates for when movies will be removed, but if a title lands on their “Leaving Soon” page, chances are you won’t see them on the site when the next month rolls around. So, after looking at what’s headed out by the end of May 2025, I’ve compiled nine of my favorites that I think you should check out before they’re gone.
Hereditary (2018)

If you’ve followed Creepy Catalog for a while, you already know we’re big fans of Hereditary. If you haven’t seen the movie yet, and we haven’t convinced you to spend money to watch it, you have a little while longer to give it a try for free before it leaves Tubi.
The Void (2017)

I’ve always considered The Void to be sort of like a cosmic horror version of Assault on Precinct 13. It’s about a small group of people trapped inside a hospital that is nearly empty. Blocking their escape outside are people in white cloaks. Inside, people are starting to be attacked and/or taken over by tentacled monstrosities.
Day of the Dead (1985)

Okay, this isn’t the most pristine version of Day of the Dead. The version of the film on Tubi is actually Shout Factory’s “VHS Vault” release, meaning it is in low definition, and is cropped to a 4:3 aspect ratio. Nostalgic? Sure, but less so without actually having a videocassette to hold in your hands. Regardless of the format though, Day of the Dead is a zombie classic.
The Beyond (1981)

Lucio Fulci is a master of horror, and The Beyond is one of his best movies. It’s weird, creepy, and gross, which is exactly how I like my horror. The story is about a woman who inherits an old hotel in Louisiana, unaware that the building contains a gateway to hell. The Beyond is a second of Fulci’s Gates of Hell trilogy which also includes City of the Living Dead (1980) and The House by the Cemetery (1981).
Silent Hill (2006)

As the years have gone on, Silent Hill remains as one of the best horror movie adaptations of a video game. It’s not perfect, but it looks fantastic, and the story translates well to the movie screen even with the changes from the original. Plus, with the adaptation of Silent Hill 2 still forthcoming, now’s a good time to revisit this first movie.
The Bird with the Crystal Plumage (1970)

An American writer, Sam, is in Italy when he witnesses the attempted murder of a woman at the hands of a black-gloved serial killer. Now stuck in Rome while the police conduct an investigation, Sam begins an investigation of his own. His actions draw the attention of the killer, putting himself and his girlfriend in mortal danger. The Bird with the Crystal Plumage is a highly influential film in the giallo genre.
The Craft (1996)

When Sarah moves to Los Angeles, she befriends three fellow outcasts. Together, they form a coven, but when their spells begin doing an increasing level of harm, Sarah tries to back away from the group. That only makes them see Sarah as a threat to be eliminated. The Craft is a teen-witchcraft classic.
Donnie Darko (2001)

I first saw Donnie Darko around the time it was originally released, and I like it. I watched it again last year around Halloween, and I loved it. It’s odd and philosophical, and it doesn’t give viewers any easy answers. It’s about a teenager, Donnie, who is told that the world will end soon after he inexplicably avoids death. Nothing feels right for Donnie as the countdown to the end of the world commences.
Ju-On: The Grudge (2002)

This is another movie where Tubi’s version isn’t the most ideal. The picture is windowboxed (black bars on all four sides of the screen), and the streaming quality is lower than you’d expect. However, Ju-On: The Grudge is one of the spookiest movies to come out of the era when J-horror exploded around the world (i.e. the late 1990s into the early 2000s). Even with a less than ideal version, you need to see this movie.
