Rosario

Rosario looks like it might be something like Evil Dead Rise meets The Autopsy of Jane Doe.

For viewers who enjoy: Supernatural Horror, The Occult, Apartment Horror

Rosario Fuentes (Emeraude Toubia) spends the night in her grandmother’s apartment, waiting for an ambulance to come pick up her grandmother’s dead body. During the night, supernatural entities tied to a family curse come for Rosario.

Read our review of The Surfer.

A man, played by Nicolas Cage as credited as “The Surfer,” returns to the beach of his childhood, intent on buying the house he grew up in which oversees the water. New on Premium Video on Demand (PVOD)

Screamboat

David Howard Thornton (Art the Clown) stars as Screamboat Willie.

For viewers who enjoy: Horror Inspired by Public Domain, Low-Budget Slashers, Horror Comedies

Screamboat is the most high profile of the current wave of Steamboat Willie horror movies, but is it the best? Probably. It’s about an anthropomorphic mouse that kills people on a ferry. At $19.99 for a digital rental, you might want to wait for the price to drop. But if you need to see a mouse murdering people, you’ll probably have a good time.

New Digital Rental and Purchases (TVOD)

Room Six

Room Six is the first feature for co-writers and co-directors Michael Panico and Matt H. Miller.

For viewers who enjoy: Motel Thrillers, Paranoia, Crime Thrillers

Maxx (Sophia Echendu) is working a lonely night shift at an empty motel when two brothers check in. She gets a bad feeling about the brothers, and when she tries to investigate, she finds herself drawn into a dangerous situation.

Fear Below

Fear Below is from Australian director Matthew Holmes.

For viewers who enjoy: Shark Movies, Underwater Thrillers, Period Crime Films

Mobsters accidentally sink a car containing gold into a river, so they hire divers to retrieve their merchandise. Unknown to everyone, a bull shark is lurking in the area. So now, with a shark in the water and angry mobsters on land, the divers are caught in a dangerous situation no matter what they do.

Final Recovery

Charlene Tilton (Dallas) stars in as the devious Nanny Lou.

For viewers who enjoy: Hospital Horror, Medical Thrillers, Conspiracies

Nanny Lou is the sweet and motherly figurehead of the Sage Treatment Facility. But when Rodney ends up in her care while trying to recover from addiction, he begins to suspect that something nefarious is going on behind the scenes. Could Nanny Lou be behind the facility’s darker dealings?

Extremely Limited Theatrical Releases

The following three movies are in only a few theaters across North America, so finding a local showtime will be tough. Regardless, we’re posting them here so you can see what’s out there and what should hopefully be coming soon in a digital release.

A Desert

A Desert is the first feature from director Joshua Erkman.

For viewers who enjoy: Neo-Noir, Desert Horror, Dark Thrillers

Alex (Kai Lennox) is a photographer on a road trip, trying to reclaims his glory days of being a best-selling artist. When Alex meets Renny (Zachary Ray Sherman) at a motel, everything changes. A Desert is best viewed knowing no more than this basic setup.

The Death of Snow White

We could only find one location playing The Death of Snow White, but it could potentially open in more areas before it hits streaming.

For viewers who enjoy: Fairy Tale Horror, Low-Budget Dark Fantasy, Splatter

The Death of Snow White is a dark and campy re-imagining of the classic story, with plenty of violence and blood to push it towards being a horror tale. Unlike many recent public domain/fairy tale horror offerings, this one puts a lot of effort into the movie’s visuals, making it look good despite its low budget.

Daydreamers

Finding any showtimes for Daydreamers is difficult, but maybe you’ll have better luck in your area.

For viewers who enjoy: Vampire Movies, Vietnamese Horror

Brothers Nhat (Thuan Nguyen) and Marco (Tran Ngoc Vang) are vampires with two very different philosophies. Nhat abstains from human blood and lives a life of secrecy. Marco embraces his nature and lives his vampire life to the fullest. When Nhat falls in love with a human who finds out that he’s a vampire, he vows to protect her against Marco and any other vamp who tries to harm her.
