Seth Rogen has already seen Curry Barker’s upcoming horror-comedy Anything But Ghosts, and he thinks it tops Obsession, the movie that made him a fan of the filmmaker.

Speaking to TIME, Rogen said the new film is “even better” and added that Barker’s “just as good an actor as he is a director.” Barker stars alongside his longtime creative partner Cooper Tomlinson, who co-wrote the script with him.

They play fake ghost hunters whose scams bring them into contact with a real paranormal entity. Blumhouse and Focus Features will release it in theaters May 7, 2027.

Rogen’s praise follows a memorable trip to see Obsession. He said he caught it 6 weeks into its theatrical run, when a Tuesday-night screening was still sold out. “Laugh-screaming is how I’d describe the sound the audience made,” he told TIME.

Barker wrote, directed and edited Obsession. Rogen praised its performances, writing and technical craft, putting its budget at around $750,000. “Curry Barker didn’t set out to make a cultural phenomenon, he set out to make a movie with his friend. But a phenomenon is the result.”
