The Perfect Scary Movie to Watch on Halloween is Now Streaming on Netflix

“Why are you doing this to us?”

Liv Tyler is terrorized by intruders in The Strangers (2008).

Halloween is just weeks away which means it is the time of year when everyone — not just horror fans — are looking for scary movies to watch. Currently, Netflix is streaming a perennial fan favorite that is the perfect pick for casual horror fans who need a homerun for their Halloween movie night. This movie has a relatable premise, creepy masked killers, characters you’ll really care about and an ending that will stick with you for years to come.

Here’s the trailer:

The Strangers follows couple James (Scott Speedman) and Kristen (Liv Tyler) as they arrive to James’ family cabin in the middle of the night. Preoccupied by a failed proposal, the couple settle in but are disturbed by a visitor asking if “Tamara” is home. When James goes on a late night cigarette run, Kristen begins to be terrorized by masked strangers.

Kristen is unaware a masked stranger lurks inside the cabin.

James returns and the couple spend the rest of the movie trying everything they can think of to get away from the intruders. The final scene of The Strangers is particularly haunting and upsetting. Without giving much away, the strangers unmask themselves and reveal the chilling reason why they targeted James and Kristen.
